Eighties cheese tastes the best when it’s eighties sports cheese!
This 1986 Mets gem is delicious! Even by the decade’s Stan Bush/John Waite standards, this song is abrasive and lyrically inane. It’s biggest flaw is that it doesn’t break out into a rollcall of the ballplayers. Apparently the only players in the 1986 Mets lineup worth mentioning were Howard Johnson and Darryl Strawberry.
Listening to bad sports anthems is dangerous. Sure, it starts with silly eighties gems from the Mets and the Chicago Bears, but soon enough I’ll find myself on Amazon, purchasing a complete collection of NFL Films music. John Facenda overload!
