The Pussycat Mystique

Amelie “The Hater” Gillette of The AV Club is a woman after my own heart, but I think she’s starting to lose it. Her take on The Pussycat Dolls‘ reality show isn’t as biting as even the quote she chose from The New York Times.

With such easy targets—Lil Kim, McG—trying to make it seem like The Search for the Next Pussycat Doll follows in the tradition of Susan B. Anthony, Gillette doesn’t even try to stoke the outrage. Luckily her commenters are here to provide adequate snark. Some highlights:

  • “At least with that Coyote Ugly reality show that I saw on Bravo or somewhere, they taught the girls how to bartend.”
  • “Speaking of Feminism, The Search For The Next Pussycat Doll is replacing Veronica Mars.”
  • “The producers of this show should consider a future reality show in which contestants compete to perform in a minstrel show, to empower the African-American community.
  • “If you don’t think at least a few of the Pussycat Dolls are trannies, then you gotta ‘nuther thing coming, Rob Halford.”
